When it comes to self care, many busy women name time and money as the biggest barriers to a regular self care routine. These barriers keep women from practicing self care regularly. A self care routine is a vital part of being the best you that you can be. So, let’s talk about some self care box ideas that will make it easier for you to practice self care on a regular basis. 

The best part about these self care box ideas is that they are easy on the wallet! I’m going to share some ideas that will work for a variety of budgets.

Have you heard of a self care box? If not, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. A self care box is simply a box where you keep items you need to practice self care. It helps to take the guesswork out of self care.  

A self care box is a convenient way to get started with self care. It’s a tool kit that houses the things that you need for your physical, mental, and spiritual care. The grab-and-go concept of a self care box makes it a must-have for busy women looking to incorporate more self care into their daily lives. 

How do you make a self care box?

Don’t overcomplicate making your self care box. The nice thing about making a self care box is that you can’t do it wrong. It’s yours. Make it work for you. The main objective is to have all of your self care items in one place so that they’re at your fingertips whenever you need them.

Making a self care box can be as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Pick out the box that you want to use for your self care box. 
  2. Gather the items that you want to include in your box. 
  3. Put them in the box!

What exactly do you need to put in your self care box? That’s completely up to you. You can put whatever items you want in your box so that you can customize your self care experience. You can put as many or as few items as you want in your self care box, but the items must be items that truly help you relax and bring you ultimate self care.

Face masks are a great way to relax and take care of yourself at the same time. Make sure to choose face masks that have high-quality ingredients that will help improve your skin.

I’ve also used New York Biology Dead Sea Mud Mask.

Essential Oils

Essential oils can be used in so many ways. They can be inhaled, used topically, or mixed into other products. Healthline.com lists several different ways to use essential oils on their website. You want to make sure that you choose high-quality essential oils in order to get the most benefits from them. Make sure to get guidance on using essential oils correctly, especially if you are going to ingest them. 

Essential Oil Diffuser

My favorite way to use essential oils is by diffusing them using an essential oil diffuser. There are essential oils that help you relax and reduce stress. Do your research and find the right essential oils to add to your self-care box based on your self-care needs. 

Gift Cards

Gift cards for your self-care box? Why not? Including gift cards in your self-care box is a great way to make room for self-care.

You can add a spa gift card, a gift card to your favorite coffee shop, a trip to the movie theater, or a visit to your favorite health store.

Gift cards are also a great addition to a self-care gift basket if you’re looking for an idea for a great gift. 

Bath Bombs

Warm baths are a good way to practice self-care. It’s a way to get some quiet time alone and it can also help you relax sore muscles. Adding bath bombs to your bath can help create a calm atmosphere and can have a positive effect on your mood.

If water isn’t your cup of tea, there are other things you can drink to stay hydrated. Make sure to limit those drinks that have added sugars and other unhealthy ingredients. 

Good Book

Reading is a great form of self care. Add your favorite book to your self care box so that you can indulge in a few pages when you have some down time. 

Fuzzy Socks

Fuzzy socks are comfortable and cozy. There are so many fun fuzzy socks available. Find a pair or two that help you get in relaxation mode and add them to your self care box.

Lip balm is a great addition to a self care box. Burt’s Bees lip balm is my favorite. Cracked, chapped lips are uncomfortable. Keep lip moisturizer on hand so that your self care time is not interrupted by dry lips!

Bath Salts

Bath salts are good for decreasing stress, moisturizing skin, and soothing pain. I love using epsom salt for baths. There are several different varieties of bath salts. It’s a great addition to your selfcare box. 

Yoga Mat

I’ve seen practicing yoga on several different self care lists. If you love yoga, add a yoga mat to your self care box. In addition to yoga, you can also use the mat for other types of exercise as well. Exercise has several benefits, making it a great self care activity. 

Affirmation Cards

Repeating positive affirmations can help improve your mood and build your self confidence. You can make your own affirmation cards or buy some premade affirmation cards to add to your self care box.

White Noise Machine

Getting a quality night’s sleep is excellent self care. White noise machines help mask environmental noises, which may help you get better sleep. If taking a nap or simply lying down for some relaxation is a part of your self care time, grab a white noise machine.

Hand Cream

Especially during the winter months, we need to pay extra attention to keeping our hands moisturized. Hand cream is a grea addition to your self care box. 

Hot Tea

Hot tea can be good for ridding your body of toxins and can also be good for curbing stress and anxiety. There are so many varieties of tea. Find your favorite ones and add them to your self care box. 

Body Butter

Body butters are good for adding a protective barrier over your skin. Paying extra attention to your skin is perfect for your self care day. Remember to pay attention to the ingredients in your body butter so that you are providing as much nourishment to your skin as possible.

Lip Scrub

Lip scrubs help to exfoliate your lips, leaving them soft and smooth. Do your research and make sure not to use lip scrubs too often so that you don’t damage the skin on your lips.

Sweet Treats

Self care time is a time to treat yourself, right? Why not add a few sweet treats to your self care box? My treat of choice is Candy Club’s Pineapple Rings.  

Sleep Mask

Do you have time to take a nap during your self care time? If so, you’ll want to have your sleep mask handy so that you can make the most of your rest period. A sleep mask is perfect for your self care box. 

Mug

Is it just me or is it more fun to drink hot teas and coffee from fun mugs? Find a great new mug to add to your self care box! There are so many mugs that have great self care and mental health messages. The messages serve as excellent remidners at precisely the right moment.

Journal

Journaling is one of my favorite self care activities because it allows you to write feely about whatever is on your mind. Journaling can be calming and can help you sort through your thoughts. There are several other benefits of keeping a journal so grab your favorite one and toss it in your self care box. 

Pens

Fun pens are a great addition to your self care box. I love Papermate Flair pens for journaling. Of course, you can grab whatever pens you prefer. Just make sure you have some available so that you don’t have to go searching for one when you sit down to journal.

Candles

Burning candles adds a pleasant fragrance to your self care area and can have other calming effects.  

Fidget Spinner

Fidget spinners are not just for kids. Many adults find them calming as well. Add one or two to your self care box and try them out to see if they help decrease your anxiety. 

Massage Oils

Beauty products are a great addition to a self care box. You can include your favorite skincare products or even your favorite nail polish colors.
