Morgan Creek Winery Review: Sweet Wines and Beautiful Views
Just off Highway 280 in Harpersville, Alabama is the sweetest little family-owned winery. Pun intended. (Get it? Sweet. Wine.)
Morgan Creek Winery produces sweet muscadine wines and offers a relaxing, picturesque environment that will have you planning your next visit before you finish your first glass of wine.

The Arrival to Morgan Creek Winery
Morgan Creek Winery is located in Harpersville, Alabama. Though I live less than 20 miles away from the winery, this was my first visit. I had no clue what I’d been missing!
The beauty of the property was evident as soon as I turned into the driveway. I visited in November when the leaves on the muscadine vines and blueberry bushes had begun changing colors. They were absolutely gorgeous! A few berries were still hanging onto the vines. I’m already looking forward to visiting again when everything is in full bloom.
Also visible on the property are a family home, the winery, Morgan Creek, and an event area.

The Winery Tour
My friends and I opted for the complimentary winery tour to learn more about how the wine is produced at Morgan Creek Winery. Leigh Ann, our tour guide, explained every step of the process, from harvesting fruit to packing boxes for shipment.
We were in awe to learn how much work goes into the process and probably more in awe of how so few people do so much work. You see, by design, the winery is a small family-owned and operated business that employs less than 10 full-time employees. It was amazing to learn how the fruit is harvested, crushed, fermented and stored all right there on property!
We learned that the owner, Charles Brammer, Sr. started the winery as a hobby in 2000! He never intended for it to be among the largest of Alabama’s 18 wineries, producing nearly 200,000 bottles of wine each year.
We also learned that they package and ship the bottles directly from the winery to 15 states!

Tasting Wines at Morgan Creek Winery
After our tour, we headed to the tasting room to taste some Morgan Creek Wines!
Morgan Creek Winery offers 13 different types of wines ranging from dry to sweet. With so many varieties, there’s sure to be something for every wine lover. We even tasted a wine slush, which was absolutely delicious! You may just discover a new favorite.
While there are several different wines to choose from, you won’t see some of the traditional faves there. That’s because the winery uses Alabama fruits to create its wines. So, you’ll find their signature muscadine and blueberry wines and you’ll also find wines from peaches, apples, and other fruits grown and harvested in Alabama!
It was fun to try the different wines and discover some new favorites.

Events at Morgan Creek Winery
In addition to the complimentary tour and tasting that you can take advantage of at Morgan Creek Winery, they also host several different events throughout the year like their annual grape stomp and various summer events. You can find more information on their website.
Morgan Creek Winery is also a great choice to host private events like birthday celebrations, weddings, and family reunions.
Exploring More of the Winery
After the tasting, we explored the gift shop, which is full of great finds for wine lovers. From gift baskets to home décor, it’s easy to grab a souvenir or a thoughtful gift.
Of course, many visitors—like us—left with several bottles of wine to enjoy later. Whether you’re stocking up for a celebration or simply adding to your collection, Morgan Creek makes it easy to choose the right wine.
I also learned that Morgan Creek is deeply rooted in the local community and Alabama’s wine scene. Their Alabama-grown muscadines and blueberries stand proudly among the best cold-hardy varietals the South offers. Every bottle reflects a dedication to American-style wines, using local fruits to craft flavors that celebrate Alabama’s rich agricultural heritage.
Another thing I love is how Morgan Creek Vineyards embraces the cycle of seasonal events, like the annual grape stomp. I’m definitely adding that to my calendar next year! Events like this truly create an inviting atmosphere, welcoming gift shop visitors, families, and groups of friends looking to have a great time.
If you’re visiting from nearby cities like Birmingham or anywhere in Alabama, this winery is a must-visit. Whether you’re discovering a farm winery in the area or diving deeper into the sweet wines of the South, Morgan Creek offers an experience that’s hard to beat. I can’t wait to visit again and see what the next season brings—who knows, maybe I’ll discover another new favorite from their collection of Morgan Creek Wines!
