6 Undeniable Reasons Why We Need Friends in Our Lives
No matter our stage in life, we need friends. Friends bring so much value to our lives. And let’s face it: friends are fun! My life is undoubtedly so much sweeter because of my friends. There are several reasons why we need friends in our lives, but today we’ll focus on six of them.
I have heard some people say they don’t need friends. But I’m here to argue! I feel like everyone needs someone they can connect with. We all need someone we can depend on in a time of need. It’s nice to have someone other than family members you can relate to, vent to, laugh with, and cry with whenever you need to.

Why do we need friends in our lives?
I could talk all day about why friends are so important. I have early memories of wonderful friendships that I still cherish to this day. In fact, I’m still close friends with ladies that I met way back in elementary school.
Over the years, I’ve developed several friendships. Some have lasted, and some haven’t. But, I have memories of each relationship that have convinced me that it’s more important to have friends than not to have friends.
Here’s why it is important to have friends:
Friends encourage you
Your pals see the good in you. They know your best qualities and do a great job of cheering you on so those qualities shine. There’s nothing like having someone in your life to remind you that you are enough and that you inspire other people.
Your best buddy is that person who motivates you and believes in you, even when you don’t believe in yourself.
Friends give you their honest opinion
Who do you call when you really want to know how your new haircut looks? Your bestie, right? That’s because you know your girl is going to keep it real. She’s going to give your her honest opinion, and that’s exactly why you ask her.
You can depend on your friends to tell you the truth, even when the truth is hard to hear. But that’s the beauty of it. It’s important to have someone in your life to tell you the truth, even when it’s difficult.
Friends boost your happiness
If I’m feeling down, I can always depend on my friends to cheer me up. I’m pretty much guaranteed a good time when I’m with my girls, no matter what we’re doing. Whether we’re sitting around eating snacks and chatting or if we’ve planned an outing, we’re sure to share plenty of laughs and memorable moments.
Having friends is a great way to boost your happiness and keep you in a good mood more often. Quality friendships should add joy to your life.
Friends help you celebrate good times
When you have good things happen in your life, it’s nice to have people that you can depend on to celebrate you. Good friends stand ready to celebrate your successes and are genuinely happy to see you succeed.
If your friends are not happy to see you do well, then they may not be your true pals.
Tip: Don’t let distance keep you from celebrating your friends’ successes. Send flowers or another treat to help her celebrate that huge accomplishment!
1-800 Flowers is another of my favorite places to shop when I want to send flowers to friends or family member.
Friends help you through difficult times
Not only are real girlfriends there for you for the celebrations, but they’re also there for you when the going gets tough. Your friend should be there when you need someone to lean on in difficult times.
Distance might separate you from your friends, and “being there” might look different. But true companions know what support feels like in times of difficulty.
LIttle things like a phone call or sending a meal can really help provide some relief and comfort for your friend during a time of need.
Friends are extended family
Having quality friends is like having extended family. My closest girls and I are there for each other’s baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, new jobs, losses and anything else that family would be there for. Being connected to someone for several years is so special. Getting to know each other’s personalities, fears, and aspirations helps create special bonds that last beyond petty disagreements and misunderstandings. Over the years, my friends have become my family and I’m so thankful for that.
There are so many other benefits of friendship. If you have great people in your life, show your thankfulness for those relationships by using friendship affirmations. If you have some relationships that are no longer positive, read my blog about letting go of unhealthy relationships.
Lastly, if you hear somebody saying they don’t need friends, remind them that they’re missing out on something special.
