Mother’s Day Getaway Ideas

Moms work pretty hard, and a great way to say thank you is a fun Mother’s Day getaway. With Mother’s Day just a few weeks away, I wanted to share some ideas for Mother’s Day escapes mom will love.

First, you need to figure out what kind of Mother’s Day getaway fits your mom’s personality best. Make sure that you are choosing something that would truly make your mom happy and not stress her out. For example, if she likes the beach, she probably wouldn’t be too happy with a surprise ski trip.

Some moms would cherish a private and quiet escape for a day, but other moms will have a hard time imagining the day without her family around. Here are some fun Mother’s Day travel ideas that include the flexibility to have a mix of family time and mom-only time.

Spa Time for Everyone

The spa treatment as Mother’s Day getaway is a total cliche. But why do you think that is? It’s because it works! Moms need a break, and a spa getaway is a great way to get one.

For a twist on this classic idea, book a family spa getaway. Mom gets the pampering, and so do other family members. Let mom decide if she wants private treatments or if she wants to enjoy a fun mother-and-child or husband-and-wife treatment. There are lots of spa hotels that feature services for children.

Family Arts & Crafts Vacation

Does your mom love arts and crafts? Find a destination with lots of fun arts and crafts classes, and head there for the weekend. Let mom take a class or two solo and maybe a class or two with the kids, if you think that’s something that she would enjoy.

Added bonus: The kids’ creations will make wonderful and cherished Mother’s Day gifts that have major sentimental value.

Mother’s Day Adventure

If mom is the outdoorsy and adventurous type, create a fun getaway she will enjoy. Create a unique scavenger hunt that will take her to a favorite destination. Plan a fun geocaching adventure or a camping getaway.

Beach Getaway

If my family is reading this, I want to go to the beach.  (I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to make that known.) If you mom loves relaxing on white sand near the ocean, the beach would be a great getaway for her!  For me, sitting oceanside listening to the waves is a dream come true.
