By no means do I consider myself a beauty expert.  In fact, I love a quick and easy routine. I do, however, pride myself on spotting a product that lives up to what it promises.  I’ll give almost anything a try, but to earn space in my train case, the product has to be something that consistently delivers on its promises.  Some of the products in my train case are products that I’ve used for several years.  I’m a huge proponent of the phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”  Once I find something that works, I’m usually pretty loyal to it.  So, I’m going to share five products that you’ll always find in my train case.  These are the ones that I use up and purchase again.  I guess you could call them my fave five.

Clinique Stay-Matte-Oil-Free Makeup

The funny thing about this product is that I’ve used it for as long as I can remember.  The first foundation that I ever put on my face (when I was 14 or 15 years old) was Clinique.  My mom introduced me to Clinique foundation because she said it was “good for your skin.” I have to admit; she might have been right.  I love that this foundation provides excellent coverage with very little product.  I apply it with a brush to target the areas that need coverage and smooth it over the rest of my face to achieve a balanced, even look.  It also comes in a variety of shades that should easily match most skin tones.

Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush

I LOVE this loose powder.  I use it on top of my liquid foundation to set it.  I have oily skin, and this powder takes the additional shine off my face so that I get a nice matte look.  A small amount of this powder goes a long way.  It lasts for a really long time.  I will admit that I am not a fan of the brush that comes with the powder.  But that’s probably because I prefer a full-size brush.

Maybelline Tattoo Studio Eye Pencil

I am thrifty when it comes to many things, but an eyeliner pencil is not one of them.  I use an eyeliner pencil religiously because I’m not a lash-wearer, so I have to do something to define my eyes.  The Maybellline Tattoo Studio Eye Pencils goes on very smooth and doesn’t snag at your eyelids the way some of the cheaper pencils can (Trust me, I know. I used to be the 99 cent eye pencil queen).  The Maybelline Tattoo Studio Eye Pencil gives me that defined look that I desire, making my eyes come alive the instant I apply it.

Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color

This is definitely a must-have in my train case.  I love blush!  I honestly don’t feel “made up” unless I’m wearing it.  I know, I know.  Nobody wears blush anymore, right?  I hear that so much.  I just can’t seem to let go of it.  Nor do I plan on it.  The key is finding the blush that’s right for you, and I feel like I’ve found “the one” in Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color.  A little bit goes a long way, and knowing how to apply it correctly is key.  Picking a shade that works for your skin tone, using the right brush, and applying it according to your face shape are three of the most important blush tips.  There are videos and tips all over the interwebs that will keep you from looking like one of the newest cast members of Barnum and Baily Circus!

Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara

If I had a dime for all of the mascaras I’ve tried, I’d be sitting on a pretty penny right now!  I have always struggled to find the mascara that I felt really delivered on the job that it was supposed to do.  I mean, how difficult is it to give a girl defined, separated, curled, lengthy, plump eyelashes.  Sheesh!  Are we asking too much?  I finally found what I’ve been searching for in Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara.  I’ve been using this one for a few years and I’ve been pretty happy with it. This mascara definitely gives me more defined lashes. It’s a keeper, for sure!

These are the items that you’ll find in my train case at any given point in time.  Of course, there are many other products in there because, well, I have a slight obsession with buying makeup.  But, there’s a difference between buying and using, and these products are ones that I use regularly and I repurchase when they run out.  Now that I’ve shared my favorite products with you, tell me what’s on your list of favorites!  Comment below or hop over to my social channels to share!  I can’t wait to hear from you!
