What is tapping?
Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is a holistic healing technique that has been used for centuries to help people emotionally and physically. It is based on the concept of energy meridians that run through the body and can be stimulated by tapping on specific points on the body. WebMD says tapping draws on the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture which stimulates certain points on the body.

How can tapping help with you forgive yourself?
Tapping can be a powerful tool to help you release the negative emotions associated with unforgiveness. This technique can encourage you to open your heart and move towards healing.
Tapping helps to clear energy blockages in the body, allowing you to let go of the negative feelings and create more emotional space to forgive.
How do I practice the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?
It’s very simple to begin practicing tapping. To begin tapping for forgiveness, start by tapping on the karate chop point (the fleshy part of your hand, between the wrist and the base of the thumb) while repeating a positive forgiveness affirmation, such as “I forgive myself for any hurt or pain I have caused.” Then, move on to the other tapping points on the body and focus on any negative emotions you are feeling, such as anger, guilt, regret, or resentment. As you tap, continue to repeat the affirmation and allow yourself to let go of any negative feelings.
After you have finished tapping, take a few moments to sit in stillness. Feel the emotions of compassion and understanding, and be open to the possibility of forgiving yourself. It might take some getting used to before you are truly comfortable with this technique, but give it a chance. It may take you several tries before you truly master the tapping technique. But each time you do it, you will create more space to allow forgiveness into your heart.
