Gymwrap: A Product Review

Share this article:

Over the years, my weight has fluctuated partly due to my subpar eating habits, but mostly due to my inconsistent workout efforts. I have used excuse after excuse to justify why working out regularly isn’t for me.  I’m pretty sure that the one excuse that I’ve used more times than any other has been, “I can’t sweat out my hair!”  Now, you’ve got to be a Black girl (or at least have a particular texture of hair) to truly understand the struggle associated with this excuse.  There is no way to quickly transform sweaty, hot mess, post-workout hair into a hairdo fit to leave the house.  It’s close to impossible.  But, something’s gotta give!  There has to be a way that I can have my cake and eat it too! (Oops, there go those darn subpar eating habits again!). So, imagine my excitement when I learned about the Gymwrap!

Enter the Gymwrap

So, I’m scrolling on Instagram one day and I came across a Gymwrap advertisement that featured Nicole Ari Parker.  I wondered if this was the same Gymwrap that I remember from a while back that I had always wanted to try.  It turns out, it was.  Well, thanks to the quarantine, I had been working out consistently at home.  I knew I didn’t want to stop this wonderful habit once I started back to work, so I figured it was a good time to give the Gymwrap a try. The first thing I did was search for some product reviews.  I rarely purchase anything without looking at a few reviews first.  Of course, the reviews varied from website to website so the only thing left for me to do was to order the Gymwrap and try it out for myself.

The Order

To purchase the GymWrap, I used the link that I saw on the Instagram advertisement.  The link took me straight to the site where I saw a large picture of Nicole Ari Parker.  I scrolled down a little and was able to see the products offered by this company.  There were three style options to choose from:  the Bandi, the GymWrap, and the GymWrap Pro.  I chose the GymWrap.  It was very easy to place my order.  My order arrived within a week, which was exciting for me because I was so ready to try it out.

Working out Pre-GymWrap

I’m a sweater by nature.  Even when I say that I’m not “working out hard” I still end up with wet hair.  I like to work out in the mornings because it increases the likelihood of the workout actually happening.  The dilemma has always been that after the workout, I have to spend time conditioning and drying my hair before styling it for work.  This resulted in several “skipped” workouts, especially if I had an early meeting or another obligation.

The Test

As soon as the GymWrap arrived, I put it to the test.  I decided to step my workout game up a bit just to make sure that I was testing this product adequately.  Before beginning my workout, I brushed my hair into a low ponytail and wrapped my GymWrap securely around my head. Then, I climbed onto my bike and set off for a 45-minute interval ride.  At the end of my ride, I was pleasantly surprised that there was not sweat running down my face and neck.  The sweat that usually invaded those areas had now been absorbed into the GymWrap. My hair was nowhere near as wet and sweaty as it usually is without the GymWrap.  Most of the excess moisture had been absorbed into the wrap, leaving my hair significantly drier than without the GymWrap.

The Conclusion

While my hair was not completely dry after the workout, I can truly say that it was much drier than it is without the GymWrap.  My edges stayed smooth and did not frizz up the way they can when using a regular sweatband. I was definitely pleased with this product and will be buying more very soon.
