In today’s hectic world, it is important to take time for yourself. You cannot take on the world if you are not cared for. When you think of self-care your mind may go to expensive spa days filled with massages and cucumber covers over your eyes. However, there are many things you can do inexpensively at home to take time for yourself and care for your mind and body. Here are some free self-care activities that you can do from the comfort of your own home.

Take A Relaxing Bath

A warm and calming bubble bath may seem like a cliché activity when talking about self-care. Perfecting your bubble bath can carve out a special time in your day to reward yourself for all of your hard work. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in a warm bath and unwinding from your day. Adding an aromatherapy bath bomb or bubble bath can take your experience to the next level.

Meditate

Meditation is not only a great way to take a quiet moment for yourself, but it is actually proven to reduce stress and lower your risk for certain diseases. Meditation does not have to be complicated. All you need is a quiet space where you can sit comfortably for a few moments. 10 minutes a day is all you need to reap the benefits of meditation.

Find a place where you can sit comfortably. Close your eyes and begin to breathe. Focus on your breathing and allow yourself to clear your mind and relax. After a few days, you will feel calmer and more focused. Meditation can lower your stress levels and blood pressure. Meditation has been proven to reduce the risk of diseases like diabetes and heart disease. It can even prevent depression and anxiety.

Take a Walk or Have a Stretch

We often think that self-care is when we pamper ourselves and relax. One of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself and improve your overall quality of life is some light exercise. Going on a walk is a great way to improve your mood. As you stroll, your brain releases serotonin that can lift you out of any bad mood you may be experiencing. Walking regularly can increase your circulation. Going for just a short walk three times a week can drastically improve your heart health. If you want to improve your overall health and wellness, a daily walk may be your best option.

Stretching is another great way to release serotonin and feel younger. As you stretch, your muscles will fill with blood and your body will begin to feel better. Stretching can improve your flexibility which can help prevent soreness and injury. Just a few minutes of stretching each day can improve your overall mood and reduce any stress and soreness you may feel.

  1. I like the idea of having a stretch, it’s easy, and you won’t feel like you are wasting too much time. Some days it hurt to find time for yourself throughout the day. You get to move and feel refreshed afterward. That’s a great one, Thanks!
