Whether you’re looking for outdoor fun, a relaxing beach day, or a cultural experience, you’ll find it here. Here are 10 things to do in Saint Simons Island that will have you loving it, too.

If you’re like me, you like to know what an area is known for before booking a vacation there.  I took some time to do a little research before booking a flight and packing my suitcase.  Here are some of the things that Saint Simons Island is known for:

What are some exciting attractions on Saint Simons Island?

I love relaxing when I go on vacation, but I also love a little excitement, too.  There are so many fun things to do on the island. I’m going to share 10 of my favorites:

1. St. Simons Lighthouse Museum

This iconic, 19th-century lighthouse offers a glimpse into the area’s maritime past. The museum features a variety of interactive exhibits, as well as guided tours of the grounds.

2. Christ Church, Frederica

This beautiful, historic church was founded in 1736 and is still active today. Visitors can take a tour of the church and its grounds.

3. Fort Frederica National Monument

This fort was built in the mid-1700s and was the site of a major battle between the British and Spanish forces. It’s now a National Monument and offers a variety of activities and exhibits.

4. Jekyll Island

This barrier island off the coast of Saint Simons Island is a great place to explore. There are a variety of beaches, trails, and historic sites to explore.

5. Driftwood Beach

This unique beach is covered in driftwood, making it a great place to explore. It’s also a popular spot for photography.

6. The King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort

This resort is a great place to relax and enjoy a variety of activities. It features a golf course, a spa, and several restaurants.

7. Village Creek Landing

This historic area offers a variety of outdoor activities. It’s a great place to rent kayaks and explore the surrounding marshlands.

What is the best time of year to visit St. Simons Island?

The best time of year to visit Saint Simons Island is typically between late April and early October. During this time, the weather is warm enough to enjoy the beach, the humidity is low, and the temperature is comfortable.

The summer months are also ideal for visiting the area. Visiting during the summer months also offers visitors the chance to experience some of the local festivals and events that are held on the island. No matter when you decide to go, Saint Simons Island is sure to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience!

Where should I stay when visiting Saint Simons Island?

There are lots of great places to stay while you’re visiting the island. Some of the best places to consider are

There are some amazing restaurants in Saint Simons Island, Georgia.  Here are a few of my favorites: 

  • Georgia Sea Grill: This restaurant offers delicious seafood dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. The menu changes seasonally, so there’s always something new to try.
  • Halyards: This restaurant is known for its modern American cuisine and impressive wine list. Their seafood dishes are particularly noteworthy, but they also have great options for meat-eaters and vegetarians.
  • Ember: Located in Retreat Village, Ember is a locally sourced restaurant that offers a new menu daily. This smart casual restaurant is great for a date night, an evening out with friends, or a celebration of any kind.

  • The Crab Trap: If you’re in the mood for classic seafood dishes like crab legs and shrimp, The Crab Trap is the place to go. They have a casual, beachy atmosphere and a great view of the ocean.
  • Delaney’s Bistro: For a more upscale dining experience, check out Delaney’s Bistro. Their menu features a mix of American and European dishes, and they have an extensive wine list.
