5 Pandemic-Proof Date Night Ideas

The COVID-19 pandemic has turned our worlds upside down and inside out.  Several couples are stressed due to work, school closures, personal health, caring for family members, etc. It is important that in the midst of all of the chaos, couples take time for each other to refocus, relax, and rekindle their love for each other.  The pandemic has made it difficult for many couples to have traditional date nights because of social distancing, business closures, or overall risks associated with being out and about.  So, I’ve come up with a list of five date ideas that are pandemic-proof, but sure to be a fun time for couples.

1.  Take a painting class together.

I bet it would be tons of fun to create a masterpiece with your sweetheart!  That old Atlantic Starr song is playing in my head now.  I found the masterpiece in you, a work of art it’s true, and I treasure you… (Okay, so I’m the only one who remembers it, huh?)  You can purchase painting materials from Amazon (here’s one that I love).  You can find paint tutorials like this one on YouTube if you need guidance while you paint.

2.  Attend a virtual poetry reading from the comfort of your own living room.

You can search Youtube to find and create a playlist of your favorite romantic poems, or check to see if some local venues may be doing some live streaming of poetry events.  Dim the lights, grab a bottle of wine and your Bae and settle in for a great pandemic-proof evening.

3. Attend a virtual concert.

Find out if a musician that the two of you love is playing in a virtual concert.  Throughout the quarantine, several musicians offered amazing free concerts.  We enjoyed living room pandemic concerts from Anthony Hamilton, Kem, Babyface, Jill Scott, and 112 to name a few.  You can get dressed up, find a cozy space in your home, and set up the device of your choice to stream and project the concert.

4. Take an online cooking class together.

Companies like Cozymeal are offering online cooking classes, which are perfect for some socially distant fun. Couples cooking classes are growing in popularity and this is a great way to bring that fun into your own home.  You can order the ingredients using a grocery pickup or delivery service and prepare for a fun evening.  Fingers crossed that the finished product will lead to a delicious ending to the night!

5.  Order a romantic dinner.

Always a winner in my book.  If you aren’t comfortable dining out yet, check to see if your favorite restaurant is offering curbside pickup or delivery.  Decorate your table with candles, flowers, and fancy dishes and prepare for a romantic dinner right in your own home.
