If you and your partner are planning a romantic spring getaway, look no further than Gulf Shores, Alabama. Spring is the sweet spot for romance at Alabama’s Beaches. This beautiful coastal destination offers everything you need for a memorable, intimate experience. Let’s explore some things to do in Gulf Shores for couples

With fewer crowds, comfortable temperatures, and a slower coastal rhythm, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach offer couples the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure before peak summer arrives.

Whether you’re planning your first visit or if you haven’t been in a while, I want to help you fill your itinerary with some of the best items that will help you create an unforgettable experience

This blog is written in partnership with Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism, but all opinions are my own.

Why Spring Is the Perfect Time for a Couples Getaway to Gulf Shores

Spring is a great time to head to Alabama’s Beaches. Here are a few reasons why:

Fewer crowds

Spring offers a quieter coastal experience, which gives couples more space to relax on the beach, enjoy peaceful sunset walks, and explore local spots without the peak-season rush.

Easier dinner reservations

That romantic waterfront table is much easier to secure in spring, whether you’re planning a sunset seafood dinner or a casual beachside date night.

Lower hotel rates

Spring rates tend to be a bit lower than summer rates. Couples can often book higher-end resorts, beachfront condos, or boutique stays at more affordable rates—or extend their trip a little longer. (#girlmath)

Comfortable beach weather

Spring temperatures are warm enough for beach days and water activities, but mild enough for biking, kayaking, and outdoor exploring without summer heat.

Spring festivals & live music

The season brings coastal energy with seafood festivals, art shows, and waterfront concerts, creating built-in entertainment and memorable date-night experiences.

Pro tip: Check Visit Alabama’s calendar of events to find festivals that fit your interests.

Weekend Framing/Personal POV

My husband and I have visited Gulf Shores dozens of times. Even still, we’re always on a mission to find unique things to do in the area. And honestly, we have no problem finding something new every time.

Here are some of the best places to go and the best things to do in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach to help you build your perfect getaway:

Sunset cruise in Orange Beach on Anonyme Cruises.

Relaxing Coastal Calm Experiences

If your love language is unhurried time together, spring at Alabama’s Beaches delivers the kind of “coastal calm” that’s hard to replicate any other season.

Sunset Cruises

There’s something undeniably romantic about watching the sun melt into the Gulf from the water. Spring skies tend to be extra pastel, making sunset cruises feel even more cinematic.

Many charters offer open-air seating, light refreshments, and a relaxed pace that invites you to slow down, toast the moment, and simply take it all in together.

Dolphin Tours

Dolphin sightings feel a little more magical when shared with your partner. Spring’s calmer waters make for smooth rides as pods of dolphins glide alongside boats.

It’s playful, peaceful, and the kind of shared experience that turns into a lasting memory (and a lot of camera roll moments).

Spa Days

A couple’s massage or spa day adds a layer of indulgence to your getaway. The Beach Club (Ft. Morgan) offers a full-service spa where you can unwind with massages, facials, and relaxation lounges.

Beach Picnics

Sometimes the simplest moments feel the most romantic. Pack a charcuterie board, fresh Gulf seafood, or your favorite takeout and set up a picnic right on the sand.

Barefoot dinners, ocean breezes, and the sound of waves create a setting that feels effortlessly intimate. And the best part? No reservation required.

Where to Stay (Lodging)

There are several great places to choose from for a comfortable and relaxing stay on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Of course, you’ll want to consider your preferences and your budget as you choose the right place.

One of our favorites is Indigo Surf by Beach 2 Bay Getaways. Indigo Surf is a beach house located on West Beach Boulevard. We typically choose beachfront condos for our Gulf Coast getaway, but this time our property was located directly across the street from the beach and we had a pretty sweet view of the beach from the front porch and our bedroom balcony.

This 3 bedroom 3.5 bathroom house is perfect for multiple couples, families with children, or a group of friends looking to have a great time. It has a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The location can’t be beat if you’re looking to be in the heart of Gulf Shores

Here is a list of more of my favorite places to stay at Alabama’s Beaches:
