Millionaire Pie, Minus the Millions

One of my dad’s favorite desserts is millionaire pie.  I can remember my mom making it for him very frequently.  I can also remember him eating half the pie in one sitting!  I’ve seen many different versions of the millionaire pie, but the version my mom always made included sweetened condensed milk, coconuts, whipped topping, crushed pineapples, chopped pecans, and cherries mixed together and poured into a graham cracker crust.

I was not a big fan of millionaire pie, but I liked some of the ingredients in the pie.  So I decided to take the ingredients that I like from the recipe, put them together, and make my own version of millionaire pie. I like to call it the millionaire pie, minus the millions.

So, I mentioned that I liked some of the ingredients in the pie.  Well, here are the ones that made the cut for my version of the pie:  sweetened condensed milk, whipped topping, crushed pineapples, and a prepared graham cracker crust.  Four out of seven isn’t too bad, is it? Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tub (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 prepared graham cracker crust
  • Your favorite nuts/toppings (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and crushed pineapples until well blended.
  2. Fold in whipped topping
  3. Pour into prepared crust
  4. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours
  5. Serve

This pie is super easy to make and super delicious, my favorite combination.  It has a light and fluffy texture that makes it a perfect summer dessert.  I’m sure you can play around with the ingredients and add anything else that you’d like.  But, for me, this simple combination is a yummy alternative to the traditional Millionaire Pie.

What ingredients would you add to make this the perfect dessert for you?
